Research activity in 1994
The problem of incremental parsing has been studied, and a method which is
simpler and more flexible than other methods known in the literature has been
proposed. An advantage of this method is to allow to implement any incremental
bottom-up parsing policy by reusing standard (batch) parsers, such as those
generated by YACC. The technique may be applied to structured editors
eliminating their known limitations, while keeping their interesting short-cut
simplifications. New, more flexible structured editors may be designed on this
basis.
