Research activity in 1997

The Dipartimento di Informatica started several years ago a project named AUDIP (Aula Didattica dIPartimentale) aimed at developing software systems for a Learning and a Teaching support to the students and teachers of the Department.. AUDIP project was one of the first project at the Italian level of exploiting multimedia and related technologies for actual support of students at the University level.

This support mainly concerns:

- the self evaluation of students near to examinations.

- the solving of parametric exercises either pre-existing or self constructed.

- the recovering of the not attended lessons.

Up to now almost one hundred students have been involved in this project : the main topic of their dissertation thesis has been the design, the development, the implementation and the test of software components to be used in AUDIP.

The activity of the Steering Committee, of many other professors and of the students has lead to the development of instructional material for a number of courses for the curriculum in Computer Science:

- Operation Research and Management Science

- Business and Industrial Administration

- Image Processing

- Mathematical Logic

- Algorithms and Data Structure (2^nd module)

- Programming (1^st module)

AUDIP courses devoted to Algorithms and Data Structure (1^st module), Programming Languages: Syntactic Analysis and a self instructional unit of Elements of Higher Mathematics are currently under development.

The Department of Mathematics , the Faculty of Economics and the Secondary Schools are examining the convenience of introducing AUDIP in their own environments.

Internal papers have been realised together with the above mentioned dissertation thesis.
