A prototype for personalized tourist services on the Web.

Description: The prototype tailors the suggestion of tourist attractions to the interests and requirements of a group of people travelling together, taking into account possibly conflicting preferences, and providing a short explanation of the reasons for its suggestions. Moreover, INTRIGUE offers an interactive agenda that helps the user to schedule the visit to the selected attractions. The personalization strategies applied in the system rely on user modeling techniques and XML-based technologies that support the dynamic generation of the user interface. The interaction with INTRIGUE has recently been extended to mobile devices (e.g. WAP). The architecture underlying the prototype is based on an agent-communication infrastructure that enables a uniform communication among heteregeneous agents. This infrastructure supports the design of internal agent architectures which can behave according to different paradigms.
