BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH INTERESTS

Piero Andrea Bonatti was born in Rome (Italy) on February 13, 1963. He received the degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa in 1988 and the PhD in Computer Science from the same university in 1993.

He has been Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Torino from April 1994 to November 1998.

He is currently Associate Professor at the University of Milano.

His most recent research interests include:

  • Proof-theory of nonmonotonic logics and logic programming
  • Security in heterogeneous/federated database systems and multi-agent systems
  • Foundations of multimedia databases

Moreover, he has been working on the following topics.

Semantics of: Nonmonotonic Reasoning, Logic Programs with negation, and Meta Reasoning (semantics of Demo predicates); Reasoning with Incomplete Information (approximate reasoning through multi-valued logics, expressiveness of query languages over incomplete databases); Database Theory (expressiveness of query languages, foundations of security).
