Performance evaluation tools are software programs that should support the user
in the development and analysis of models of real systems.
A user friendly interface is thus a key for the success of a new performance
evaluation tool. Unfortunately the task of developing a good user interface is not
a task as easy as it may seem at first glance. In this paper we will present an
XML based generic user interface that can be used at the front end of a performance
evaluation tool. By exploiting the capability of XML, the logical definition
of a model is abstracted away from its visual representation, giving a great
flexibility in exporting, importing and sharing models with other users.
