The 7th International
Workshop on Performability Modeling
of Computer and Communication Systems (PMCCS)
PROGRAM OF THE WORKSHOP
PMCCS conference series: http://www.pmccs.net
GENERAL
PMCCS-7 will be hosted at the Villa Gualino in
SCOPE & TOPICS
The workshop aims to bring together academic and industrial researchers in the
area of integrated performance and dependability modeling, with emphasis on
bridging theory and practice. Theoretical contributions as well as
application-oriented work are welcome. Case studies and industrial
applications of performability modeling and evaluation are solicited in the
field of computer and communication systems as well as in related fields, such
as flexible manufacturing systems, product-in-process software development,
medical systems, transportation systems, and complex infrastructures.
According to the traditions of the PMCCS series, the workshop will be
characterized by open and intense discussions on various topics in performability
modeling and analysis, based on recent work of the participants. Authors
retain copyright of their work.
This year PMCCS, in addition to regular sessions, organizes special sessions
to emphasize the following areas (naturally, submissions are not limited to
these topics):
- performability issues of power-limited devices
- performability management of autonomic and self-managed systems
- performability issues in the biological domain
- performability issues in cluster/grid computing

PAPERS
No full papers will be required, with the aim of stimulating a free exchange of
new ideas and recent results. Extended abstracts of up to 4 pages in
double-column IEEE format are solicited from prospective speakers. The
Workshop organizers will check whether the work is within the scope of the
workshop. The deadline for the submission of the extended abstracts is
June 20, 2005. Authors will be notified about acceptance by July 18,
2005.
Extended abstracts should be submitted in PostScript or Portable Document
Format as e-mail attachments to (please indicate special
track if any):
Andras Horvath, Dipartimento di Informatica, Università di Torino,
horvath@di.unito.it
CAMERA-READY PAPERS AND PROCEEDINGS
Authors of accepted extended abstracts will be asked to provide camera-ready
versions in the prescribed double-column IEEE format. Authors retain copyright
of their work, but will be asked to give workshop organizers permission to
print the camera-ready contributions in a workshop booklet that will be distributed
to all attendees and put on the web.
Submission deadline for the Camera-ready copy is July 31, 2005. Camera-ready
copies should be submitted in PostScript (.ps) or Portable Document Format
(.pdf, preferred) as e-mail attachments to:
Andras Horvath, Dipartimento di Informatica, Universita di Torino,
horvath@di.unito.it
CONFERENCE HISTORY
The PMCCS series started in 1991 as a forum
to gather researchers working in the emerging area of performability of computer
and communication systems. The intent of the workshop was to favor an
informal but deep exchange of new and in-progress work on the combined modeling
and analysis of performance and dependability aspects of systems.
Previous workshops in the series were held in:
PMCCS-1 - University of Twente, The Netherlands, 1991
PMCCS-2 - Le Mont Saint Michel, France, 1993
PMCCS-3 - Indian Lakes Resort, Bloomingdale, IL, USA, 1996
PMCCS-4 - College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA, USA, 1998
PMCCS-5 - University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, 2001
PMCCS-6 - University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, IL, USA, 2003
