Gianluca Torta took his ``Laurea'' degree ``summa cum laude'' in Computer Science in 1997 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2005, both at the University of Turin, Italy.

Currently he is a researcher at the Department of Computer Science, Università degli Studi di Torino where he is member of the System Modelling, Verification and Reuse (MoVeRe) and Intelligent Semantic Technologies for Human and Artificial Agents Collaboration IST*HAAC groups.

From 1998 to 2001 he was a Software Engineer at Microsoft in Redmond (US)

He has a background in artificial intelligence, in particular model-based reasoning (monitoring, diagnosis, re-planning).
His current research interests include collective aggregate intelligence in distributed systems.
