OECD Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data

The aim of these guidelines is, on the one hand, to protect data owners by preventing the violation of their fundamental rights. These violations can be caused, for instance, by the unauthorised use of personal data or the storage of inaccurate data. On the other hand, guidelines sustain the international flow of personal data. The different nations have different laws on personal data management. OECD Guidelines, by imposing additional and shared regulations, give guarantees on how personal data will be treated, increasing trust between countries and, thus, encouraging the flow of data.
